“Not many people might be familiar with it, but Diablo II had two different resolutions: 640×480, and then the expansion added 800×600, which technically involved zooming the camera out,” Cederquist noted. Additionally, players can take advantage of a new zoom feature to get a closer look at the game’s remastered art.

“Back when we were working on, we wondered if the old save files would work and we kind of shoved it in and it worked! And we were like, ‘okay, that’s the best feature ever.'”Ĭederquist also revealed that the PC version of Diablo 2: Resurrected had been developed with resolutions as high as 4320p (8K) in mind and that ultra-wide screen support is being discussed. “Yes! Yes, keep those!,” Cederquist replied to great applause after being asked whether older players would be able to import original save files into Diablo 2: Resurrected. What’s interesting is that the compatibility required no additional work from the development team. This is according to Diablo II: Resurrected’s game producer, Matthew Cederquist, who confirmed to IGN in a recent round-table interview that the remaster would support the original 2000 classic’s save files.

Diablo II: Resurrected players who grew up with the original version of Blizzard’s iconic role-playing hack-and-slash sequel will be able to pick up from right where they left off years ago.
